Deirdre Campbell has been
acquiring her skills in massage for over 25 years. She has
always had a fascination for massage in all it's forms, both
Western and exotic. Over the years - having studied widely and
gained formal qualifications in a variety of disciplines - she
finally succumbed to the endless stream of requests for her to
teach the unique style of Indian Head Massage that she
practices. As an IHM Practitioner who is
qualified to "Advanced" level, (with additional formal
qualifications in Reflexology Massage, Full Body Massage, Reiki
(Master Level) and Aura-Chi Healing as well as her professional
qualifications in Aged Care), Deirdre is more than qualified to
teach Indian Head Massage, and does so incorporating certain of
the unique Aura-Chi energetic healing processes in her classes,
as she does in her own practice. But what so many of her
students consistently report is that her teaching style is more
caring and nurturing than any other teacher that they have
encountered. It would be this that explains why so many of her
students return to complete the various other courses Deirdre
offers; Ayurvedic Relaxation Massage, Holistic Hand & Foot
Massage and Aura-Chi Healing classes.
The name "Indian Head Massage" is a little misleading, because
it actually covers massage of; the upper back, shoulders, upper
arms, neck, scalp and face, in a seated or lying down
position. It has been found to be wonderful for reducing
shoulder tension, fatigue, headaches, eye strain, insomnia,
etc. It can de-stress the body and help with fatigue and
edginess, relieve emotional stress, and improve concentration
etc. The use of essential oils and stimulation of
the scalp can also improve hair texture and vitality. It
is a perfect massage for people who carry their stress in their
shoulders, or don’t like “stripping” (only your top is removed
and a towel wrapped around), or for people unable to lie down on
a table. The massage can take from 30 minutes for a stimulating
massage to an hour for a more relaxing massage, including Marma
Point Massage. (Marma points are the Indian Ayurvedic
equivalent to reflexology/acupuncture points).

The course is run in two consecutive stages.
Stage One is the Basic
Certificate Course where the student is taught Indian Head
massage to a high degree of competency, suitable for the
enthusiast to offer this form of healing massage to friends and
family.
Stage Two is the
Advanced Course, designed for those that are interested in
pursuing this healing art to a finer degree, most likely with a
view to gaining a formal practitioner's qualification.
Those wishing to gain a Practitioner's Certificate in Ayurvedic
Indian Head Massage, are required to practice for a specified
amount of "Contact" hours on friends and family (this is a very
individual period of time depending on previous massage
experience, confidence etc, but a minimum of 30 hours is
desirable). Upon successful completion of a private
assessment with us, a Practitioners Certificate is issued,
enabling the Practitioner to be registered with an industry
association, and to be eligible for insurance, both in Australia
and overseas. (The Practitioner Assessment session
provides up to 2 hours coaching, feed-back and guidance).
The Practitioner's qualifications through the Aura-Chi School of
Natural Healing are accredited by, and entitle the holder to
membership with, such organizations as the International
Institute of Complimentary Therapists.
The courses generally take place over two days (Saturdays and/or
Sundays) 10.00 am to 6.00 pm in Menzies Creek.
Students catching public transport can be collected from
Belgrave railway station if required. A bus (number 695)
also runs to the bottom of our street.
Extensive original resource materials (handbook, charts and
oils) are provided for the course. Ayurvedic/therapeutic
Young Living essential oils are used throughout.

this course. It takes place in an extremely relaxed and
friendly environment, and numbers are intentionally kept to

hands-on course and every student is given every opportunity not
only to give, but to receive wonderful massages.
